It is defined as \u201cany intentional demonstration of verbal, written, physical, psychological or sexual force with the objective to distress, injure, hurt, or oppresses a person by attacking their psychological or physical integrity or well-being, or their rights or property\u201d (source: Loi sur l\u2019instruction publique\u00a0: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/fr\/document\/lc\/I-13.3%20\/\">https:\/\/www.legisquebec.gouv.qc.ca\/fr\/document\/lc\/I-13.3%20\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The prevalence and severity of violence among teenagers cannot be denied. The many consequences of violence and bullying on physical and mental health, well-being, and academic success are well known. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As parents, we all want our teenagers to have equal, happy and respectful relationships. The development of social and emotional management skills, respect for others, and safe, caring environments are important factors that contribute to reducing violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Violence of any kind must never be tolerated.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\r\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n\r\n<\/section>\r\n    <div class=\"container-deco deco-bottom container-bg-color-white\">\r\n            <\/div>\r\n\n\n\r\n    <div class=\"container-deco deco-top container-bg-color-white\">\r\n            <\/div>\r\n<section class=\"container-eklo add-table-content has-background has-white-background-color container-padding-4em\">\r\n\r\n    <div class=\"container\">\r\n                <div class=\"container-eklo-content eklo-deco\" >\r\n            <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n<div class=\"highlight-box box-style-black\">\r\n    <div class=\"row align-items-center\">\r\n        <div class=\"col\">\r\n            <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\r\n<h3 class=\"title-icon h2\">\r\n    <span class=\"title-icon-icon\">\r\n       <i class=\"fa-classic fa-regular fa-users\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>    <\/span>\r\n    Violence and teens in the Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie region<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Nearly 4 in 10 teens\u00a0say\u00a0they have experienced violence\u00a0at school or on the way to school;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>13% of teens\u00a0have experienced\u00a0cyberbullying;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>60 % of teens admit\u00a0to having committed an indirect act of violence\u00a0(talking behind someone\u2019s back, excluding someone from the group, starting a rumour, etc.);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>36 % of teens admit\u00a0to having committed an direct act of violence\u00a0(fighting, threatening, attacking).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\r\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\n<\/div>\r\n        <\/div>\r\n    <\/div>\r\n\r\n<\/section>\r\n    <div class=\"container-deco deco-bottom container-bg-color-white\">\r\n            <\/div>\r\n\n\n\r\n    <div class=\"container-deco deco-top container-bg-color-white\">\r\n            <\/div>\r\n<section class=\"container-eklo add-table-content has-background has-white-background-color container-padding-4em\">\r\n\r\n    <div class=\"container\">\r\n                <div class=\"container-eklo-content eklo-deco\" >\r\n            <div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be there for my teen<\/h2>\n\n\n\r\n<div class=\"accordions-block\">\r\n        \n<div class=\"accordion\" data-aos=\"fade-up\">\r\n    <h3 class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n        <a class=\"accordion-link\" role=\"button\" href=\"#panel-communication-158\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"panel-communication-158\">\r\n            <i class=\"fa-classic fa-regular fa-comment-dots fa-xl\"><\/i>Communication        <\/a>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div class=\"accordion-panel\" id=\"panel-communication-158\" style=\"display: none;\">\r\n        \n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discuss acts of violence when they occur and their repercussions with your teen;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Talk and behave in ways that encourage equality, respect and tolerance; avoid prejudices, stereotypes, and the use of violence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\r\n    <\/div>\r\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"accordion\" data-aos=\"fade-up\">\r\n    <h3 class=\"accordion-title\">\r\n        <a class=\"accordion-link\" role=\"button\" href=\"#panel-support-234\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"panel-support-234\">\r\n            <i class=\"fa-classic fa-regular fa-thumbs-up fa-xl\"><\/i>Support        <\/a>\r\n    <\/h3>\r\n    <div class=\"accordion-panel\" id=\"panel-support-234\" style=\"display: none;\">\r\n        \n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Help your teen strengthen their self-esteem (praise them, help them recognize their strengths and limitations, give them opportunities to succeed, etc.) and develop non-violent ways to manage their anger (relaxation and breathing techniques, physical activity, art, etc.);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your teenager is experiencing violence, hear them out and offer them support.
